ICARUS is an early concept for a future major project exploring the psychological unraveling of an astronaut lost in deep space. As his trajectory carries him past celestial bodies of immense scale and energy, his perception deteriorates, blurring the boundary between reality and hallucination.

The hallucination sequence introduces early narrative direction. Using a figure and clothing imported from Daz3D, the character was integrated into a surreal environment composed of image textures from textures.com. These textures were cut, extruded, and arranged to simulate distorted architecture, representing the astronaut’s deteriorating grasp on reality. Together, these elements serve as a visual foundation for the project’s intended themes of cosmic awe, psychological collapse, and existential reflection.

This showcase features a series of preliminary concept shots and a demo title sequence, set to It’s Time to Let Go by Bonnie Grace, sourced through Epidemic Sound. These test scenes focus on developing the visual language of the project, one built around vast cosmic imagery, isolation, and the fragile limits of the human mind.

The celestial bodies were created in Blender using volume shaders, layered surface materials, and controlled lighting to evoke depth, realism, and scale. Their presence is designed to communicate both the beauty and terror of the unknown.
